ABS TO INSTALL HISTORIC GEORGE WASHINGTON PORTRAIT IN TRENTON ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 16, AT 9:00 AM AT 132 WEST STATE STREET
ABS to preserve and honor George Washington’s history

Trenton, NJ – August 9, 2012 – William Sanders, Founder and Executive Director of Portraits of Patriots, Karla Pollack and Paula Hartman, Co-Founders and Principals of Association Business Solutions (ABS) to host official portrait installation. The installation will take place on Thursday, August 16, at 9 a.m., at 132 West State Street in Trenton. Refreshments provided.

Historical Significance of the Portrait
This William E. Marshall 1862 Presidential Portrait of George Washington is the finest steel engraved portrait ever done. It is the Presidential Portrait of George Washington that hung in the President’s Theatre Box at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, DC, the night that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on April 14th, 1865.

About the 1862 Original Artist Proof
The William E. Marshall artist proof was printed on a 16 x 22 sheet of what was called India paper, the only acid free paper of the time and was used for his proof strike. It was then mounted on a 22 x 28 sheet of thicker stock with a debossed border and signed “Artist Proof William E. Marshall”

The portrait being installed at ABS is from a limited printing of only 2,400 from the “original signed artist proof.” A special die was made to deboss the border of the museum quality archival stock that the portraits are printed on, in keeping with the original, and were done by a company that handles historically significant works at the National Gallery in Washington, DC.

George Washington’s Connection to Trenton
The turning point of the War of Independence took place on the streets of Trenton. On December 26, 1776, General George Washington and his men crossed the Delaware and, against all odds, defeated the Hessians in the battle of Trenton. By moving ahead with his bold and daring plan, George Washington re-ignited the cause of freedom and gave new life to the American Revolution. ABS will proudly display George Washington’s portrait to help preserve and honor the history and principles on which our great nation was founded.
